Once More Unto the Breach – Winter 2013 Schedule

vlcsnap-2012-12-29-17h41m44s97With last year still fresh in my mind, here’s what I plan to watch this winter. It’s a total of thirteen shows, but I was very generous with some of them. I’m anticipating that I’ll drop at least three or four of them. Continue reading

Twelve Days of Anime: Day XI – Your Fantasy is my Reality

Episode nine of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! dealt with romance in such a way that it was poking fun at itself the entire time. Both Rikka and Yuuta have a problem with acting out their shounen anime fantasies. So what does Nibutani do to fix this problem for Rikka? The obvious solution is to have her act out shoujo manga. Twelve Days of Anime: Day X – The End of Honor

“The world as it is, human nature as always, it is impossible to eliminate battles. In the end, killing is necessarily evil. If so, it is best to end them with the maximum efficiency and at the lowest cost, least time. If you want to slander that as foul and demean that as nasty, then do as you wish.”

Twelve Days of Anime: Day IX – The Good, the Evil and the Hyperreal

vlcsnap-2012-12-24-17h47m24s151“It was a game that Kaiki often used to discuss…Given the real thing, and an indistinguishable impostor, which is worth more? … Naturally, my response was that the real thing was worth more. Oshino asserted that they had equal value, though. But Kaiki’s argument was that the impostor is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempts to be real, it’s more real than the real thing. Kaiki’s such a petty villain, but he does say some neat things.”

Twelve Days of Anime: Day VIII – From Hadena to UTW

Hadena ShinSekai

Quality subtitles never used to be an issue for me. I would either stream whatever I could get my hands on or (gasp) watch dubs. Now that I’ve started watching anime on a more regular basis though, I’ve become a lot more concerned with those little lines of text at the bottom of my screen. Continue reading

Twelve Days of Anime: Day VII – The Innocence of Acchi Kocchi

Acchi Kocchi

I’m declaring Acchi Kocchi the cutest show this year hands down. It was pleasant, heartwarming and charming with none of the characters being anything short of adorable. It had no plot to speak of, and there was literally no character development, but it honestly didn’t bother me in the slightest. That’s weird for me to say too considering the kinds of anime I’m usually drawn to. To be honest, it was nice to just sit back, relax and enjoy a show without a single analytical thought passing through my head. Continue reading
